Primarly known as the UK's finest Jazz trumpeter he took on the chairmanship of BBC Radio4's show I'm Sorry, I haven't a Clue with regular panelists Willy Rushton, Graeme Garden, Tim Brooke Taylor and Barry Cryer when it was first aired back in the 70's. His dry wit and straight delivery made him one of the funniest men I have ever heard, and I for one shall miss him. He has has me in hysterical laughter for more years than I care to remember.
