I'm so excited! I found *all* of the DVDs (in the UK), and bought a cheap DVD player with an easy region-free hack I now have 10 full DVDs of Doctor in the House eps (including Doctor in Charge and Doctor at Large).

If anyone's interested, you can find all of the Doctor in the House DVDs at amazon.co.uk (not .com). And the player I got, which works like a charm, is here:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R1XJZ8ZG9KQRL7/ref=cm_cd_pg_pg2?%5Fencoding=UTF8&cdPage=2

This link shows the hack (I had to do it four or five times until I got it right, and I have no idea why; the buttons are a little difficult to activate, so just be patient and do it until it works.) You can set it for any region in particular, but I can't see setting it for anything other than 0, which makes it accept all regions. After you've read the review with the hack, to go to the item's main page, just click on the item in the upper right corner. It's a Philips DVP5140 Multiformat DVD Player with DivX, MP3, Windows Media Support, and it's only $49.99. The DVDs cost me three times as much as the player itself.

Now you, too, can play any region DVD for only $49.99 and a simple hack! Have fun!

"I think your the only person in the whole wide world whos interested in this particular offering of British Comedy."

Certainly not! :) Read some the reviews of the various series on Amazon. They're quite enthusiastic. (And I seem to recall the phrase, "about bloody time.")

"Are you interested in other pieces of British Comedy thats set in medical/hospital enviroments."

"P.S. Did you find a dvd player yet?"

I did google them, but I'm not yet sure which one I want to get. They don't seem to be terribly mainstream. I need to do some more research. And I haven't even decided yet if that's the way I want to go. The software is cheaper. Although, generally, I'm willing to sacrifice some $$ for the sake of ease.

Quite frankly Enrika (no offence) I think your the only person in the whole wide world whos interested in this particular offering of British Comedy. I vaguely remember sitting through this back in the 70s. Are you interested in other pieces of British Comedy thats set in medical/hospital enviroments.

Oh, man. I have bitcomet, but I absolutely suck at finding what I'm looking for in a format that I can play. That's why finding tv-links was like a miracle. The incredible frustration is only rarely worth the outcome, if I'm able to find what I'm looking for *at all*.

You can pretty much get all the makes and models that you'll find in Best Buys etc. They basically take a standard model and reprogramme it.

Just google "region free dvd players" and take your pick.

It looks like most of the episodes of Doctor in the House (including Doctor at Large and Doctor in Charge) are now available on DVD... in region 2 (England) only.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-House-1-Complete/dp/B000ICLHJS

Goddammit.

I had a friend try the supposed region hack for my DVD player, but it didn't work. How on earth are we supposed to play these things? Are their any non-region-specific DVD players available nowadays? Do I have to buy a separate region 2 DVD player? *Can* I buy a region 2 DVD player in the U.S.?

I've been waiting for these episodes for decades. I can't even find them on tv-links. They've finally been released. What's a girl to do?
